Since the birth we are facing the challenge to know thyself. Learning who we are and who we are not is the process of an individual growth. There are a few starting points we unconsciously implement seeking realization of Self.
Early stages of life and the development of goals
First, up until we are about three years old, a lot is determined by our parenting and environmental inputs. We want the basics such as food, water and warmth. Also some attention, and someone to answer all these questions, even if we cannot speak human yet. We imitate our parents and everyone’s speech patterns, different letters and sentences. Later starting to understand what everything is and does, our first cognitive goals begin to form. These are the most simplistic goals such as preference in food, toys or different sounds.
Second phase we form up until the early school years. It is getting a little more complex now and what results we have recorded during early years transform into gaps we want to fulfill later in life. Keep in mind that even if we think what we want is the right way, the sole purpose of that goal is to know yourself. That is why at this stage we want everything, all at once, because we do not know who we are yet.
When you get that toy and you play with it enough times, you might realize it is not your true purpose. Later, through the school years and beyond, we have now tried a lot of different approaches to what we thought we are. Our persona starts to gain more substance as we are more and more determined on what our main goals and hobbies are. Learning through goals shows us what we are most definitely not and what is likely that, which we can do for a living.
Where is the source of happiness? Simple answer
The trickiest part in this journey is to understand what happiness is and where to find it. What if you do what you think will bring you happiness in the future, but you are not feeling happy right now? Or you are working at a job only to find out to be the different experience. The answer can be simple and overcomplicated.
Simple answer is that happiness is an inner thing. You can change jobs, houses, countries and never feel happy. The goals are there for our personal growth and finding the true purpose in life, but not the end result. Job only gives tools of expression, and it must be that which you are most happy doing. Jobs that are repetetive will make your body a mechanical trap very fast and you will want to escape the situation. Hobbies are there too, to spend some time with yourself in full creativity and let loose. We come to the point then.
The source of happiness is self expression, without assumptions or expectancies of the outcome. When you find something you can do efficient enough, and forget about time completely, this is something you should look out for in a job. Even if it means working alone and being an author of your own salary. These are the things the parents or school never teach, how to find the source of happiness in work you do. Now we come to the main point of this article.
More complex answer about Self and Happiness
Everything means nothing not for a philosophical argument, but in every application of life. Try doing everything in life and you will shortly find that you are achieving nothing. Try doing it alone, as a one person and the life will show you that you need someone else. One is none and everything is nothing. That leaves us that one is everything and also none. One can only gain tools and power to achieve its goals if others allow that to happen. And the collective effort that gives power to an idea or a goal, becomes united as the one Self working through many bodies. This is the duality or in other words, an expression of Self through physical variables.
You can be the one who does everything in life, know little about everything and that will bring you to the universal principle behind all of the things – the one. In other words, you will find yourself while doing everything, and everything will achieve nothing. And in that nothingness you will know who you are and who you are not. That is the ultimate purpose of realization of Self.
Now if you want to achieve something, be aware that you are the one, just like the others are part of you. And to make yourself whole, you have to work in uniting other parts of you to work on a goal. That is why self expresion is at the top of the things that make you truly happy. It allows you to lead other parts of you toward the common goal. It works in a pyramid pattern and the leader is the invisible one Self, simbolized as the Eye of Horus.
Conclusion and a few more tips!
Started as a simple solution and an attempt to answer the question, it quickly evolved into the very complex structure of sentences. Reading it a few more times might confuse you even more, or give a little glimpse into the logic behind the flow of life. Best suggestion on how to deal with the confusion, is to read even more about these topics. As you read more, you will start getting the pattern and the reason behind the complexity.
Remember: words are linear where experiences are transcendent. It is impossible to write down the truth about Self when any physical expression is a dual concept that leaves good and bad. By pursuing goals you become determined to reach what you seek ignoring good and bad, until you hit the core of the truth. This is just one of the reminders that you are on a good path to become more happy and free.
Extra tip: As everything has its opposite, this idea also has an opposite side. When you are working on a lot of things at once, it is not a bad thing, it is your journey through life and finding why you are here in the first place. Having goals or not having goals, nothing is better than the opposite of it. Everything happens for a reason and without the duplicity our world would not exist! Whatever you are doing right now, is a part of a collective progress. Thank you!
