You probably have heard about the Zen teachings and the roots of the first world known masters. It is true that the famous ones have rooted from the eastern countries. However, it is only half the truth, and I will try to come up with an explanation to guide you through the hoops and loops of these teachings. It is not a fully explained article, it is only a little speck of information that might help you to start understanding the principles of Zen.
Although, we do not have to go to a monestary to perform meditation and other known practices. The reason is simple – we live in a metaphorical monastery, which is the Earth, and everything that surrounds us in the visible physical reality. It is our house, even if it feels like an outside structure, it is inside of us all. We receive teachings from the guiding hands of karma through the problems in everyday life. That is the first and the most important thing to understand about Zen.
Not everything that is visible, is the truth in life
This is simply the hardest truth to understand for modern humanity, because when we are born, our parents rarely discuss these issues, and everything that surrounds us suggests not to believe in the invisible. Then when we go through the school system, we learn the rational part of the reality, how to make a living, how to solve problems logically, and we lose the possible experience to learn the other way around – using your intuition without hard thinking.
It is very important to have both sides – rational and abstract minds, because not everything that we see around us are the ultimate reality. You can solve simple problems with the logical apparatus, with the help of your left brain, but when it comes to a complex mechanisms, you cannot move forward without the abstract intuition and the right brain functionality. That is, when you think scientifically, you are limited to a framework of that limited logical functionality, but you are stopping yourself from achieving higher goals, beyond the physicality of the cosmos.
This is what filters academic scientists from the visionary geniuses of our lifetime. To transcend simplicity into higher being, you need to learn to go the middle way. That is, to use the left brain together with the right creative mind, and through meditation, create harmony between them until you activate the Pineal Gland – your most valuable tool as a human being – allowing you to work through higher manifestations.
Once you break the limits of your thinking, you will learn to see the true reality. Everything will start making sense, every little thing, good and bad. Why the dog bit you when you crossed the street, why the tree fell exactly on your car, the newspaper subscription or an email skipped your inbox and so on. These might not be the best examples and they are very rare, but i am sure that you will understand what is this all about. You just have to observe your own life, not following these examples, and you will start seeing that a lot of things happen without any explanation at all.
When you learn the ways of Zen, you will start seeing that nothing is random – everything is interconnected. We simply do not know how to use the tools to observe the other side of life.
Everything is interconnected, even the successes and losses
It starts with the word interconnected, which can be misunderstood as a simple cause and effect idea. However, it is far more complicated and exists as a fractal structure, which means that one thing can go in multiple directions at once. It does not mean that you will send a letter and you will get a job – clearly it is possible to send a job application and never get the job, but the action itself will go through many interactions, and might bring you other valuable results. And you might think that it does not make sense, but only when you learn to use your inner eyes, everything will start making sense.
How often do you see someone around you blame the God, or the Devil. It is always someone outside of that person to be blamed for his/hers misfortune. It is a very engrained habit in our modern society, to look for explanations for bad happenings in your life. It is important to learn to drop this behavior as fast as possible, because every action that you make, brings these good and bad events to your life. It is not the world that is out there to get you, it is you, your Self being, that is sending you these events.
Since it is common to believe in luck, even though you will realize that it does not exist and there are many more factors behind this unpredictable behavior. Let’s say you buy a ticket, it is a one in a million chance to win. In reality it is not one in a million chance, there are more factors. The distribution of the tickets through the country, the process of buying, timing altogether, it might seem that it is luck based, but it is not. When you backtrack the things you have been doing that day, or that week, you will see that the ticket you chose to buy, had to be bought at that time. You simply cannot do mistakes in life when you move forward.
That goes with everything else – when you try something and fail, you lost your ticket, but you have to buy another one, and maybe that one will bring you the victory. If you do not buy any more tickets after the first one, because you did not win a lottery, you will never win anything else. It is important to learn and move towards your goals and see every action you make as a ticket to a lottery, which is not luck based, but it is fate of your being, that bought that ticket. That is why it is important to get out of your own rational thinking, because sometimes it stops you from achieving full potential by trying to see the future based on the past failures.
Most importantly, zen teaches you to see the bigger, long term picture in your life. If a few examples will not do it to you, always try to observe your own life. Choose one event and try to follow the history of it and how you came up with the idea, what happened on the way. You will see that sometimes it does not make sense, as previously mentioned.
If you want the truth, it is inside of you, you just have to ask the important questions. Everything that you see outside, is your subconscious Self. Then, you will realize, that when you ask for something, but get a totally different thing, it is actually the thing you need to move towards the thing you seek. It is not a cause and effect movement, it is a quantum leap with many interconnected events.
Learn to get out of your own way and move with the flow
It is one of the simple teachings, but it is hard to come down to understanding it clearly. How do you get out of your own way? What does it mean, should i not do anything, or should i ask others to choose something for me?
These are very close to the truth questions, but it means something more precise than that. You have an ego, the one that wants to have your own way in life. The one that tries to manage everything in life rationally, to understand why everything happens, to control your environment. But life cannot be controlled that way, it is a wild natural behavior. It moves, it changes, it jumps up and down, you have to learn to ride it, because otherwise, you will have a very hard life and will not understand why.
It is simple, because once you get this, it makes you more confident in yourself and the world you are living in. The outside is your inside, but you are on the inside of your outside. When your hard ego wants something very hard, it makes a very heavy tension between two worlds, your inner and the outer. It sends a signal which resonates with the idea that “I very much need that, it means i do not have that” following by the outcome of you not getting it, or making it a very tense experience and problematic flow of events.
To get out of your own way, you need to use your willpower, the inner strength, not the intellectual mind. It means, that you have to want something, but not force it with your ego. Do not push things, do not force anything, it will bite you in the end. Best way is to ask for something with your thoughts, in a most pure way possible, without forcing the thoughts. And then have a mindset of “I would like that, but if i don’t get it, it is fine, i am at peace”. This will make your ego not to pull your own legs, and will make the life more flexible, more easier to walk through.
Do not be tense in your decisions, do not force your ‘wants’ and ‘needs’. Trust in the world, as the world will start trusting you – it is a part of your being.
Quantum movement, learn to observe the wisdom behind all the visible blocks of reality
Congratulations, you have come to the most complex part of what could be called the modern Zen. Every quantum physics scientist has to understand the flow of life, or Zen. Because it is so unpredictable by the pure logic, you have to learn to trust in the universe and observe the motion of the very smallest particles from which everything that we see and do not see are constructed.
For those of you who have an understanding in quantum physics and the observer effect, everything in this article might be much easier to understand. When you observe the particles, they choose a very predictable pattern to manifest themselves and move toward the destination. But when we don’t watch them, they are totally unpredictable.
The key in Zen is to act like an observer in life, but also trust in the universe around you. You have to learn to observe, but not force the observation, so that the particles will move without any constraint and you will learn to move through life without the force and pain. You will learn to go with the flow, without pushing yourself and the others. When you stop trying to predict the outcomes, to hype up things and remove expectations, everything around you comes with ease. Money, success, spiritual journeys, even enemies will not find you, because you will move without the friction, your thoughts will be pure.
That is the only thing useful to know from the quantum movement theory, when you experiment a bit, it will become more clear. In other words, seek without seeking, move without moving. Observe without observing. Trust in yourself and the world, and you will learn to hear the God speak. Or the ‘invisible hand’ if you may choose this name instead.
Be like water – through meditation and self observation
This is a famous quote from Bruce Lee used in a commercial back in the days:
“You must be shapeless, formless, like water. When you pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. When you pour water in a bottle, it becomes the bottle. When you pour water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can drip and it can crash. Become like water my friend.” ―
Start meditating now, at least 5 to 10 minutes a day. That will make difference in your life and the way you see surrounding and the inner world. The most easy technique is to sit down comfortably in a chair, so you will not fall asleep, and with closed eyes, visualize the waterfall, or the flame of a candle, and try to focus on it without other thoughts. When you catch yourself drifting away, simply go back to the waterfall/flame observation. Eventually you will learn to focus for longer periods, will be able to notice even the slightest changes in your mind, and your being. Self observation is the most important tool and it does not take much time to have great results.
In other words – it is like the world is an ocean, which moves around in waves, and our minds are the drops in the ocean. When we let the ocean drift us around, it is hard to live like that, we often think too much about the past or the future. Meditation helps to hold the mast of your ship until the ocean stops moving around, and then, you open your eyes to notice the difference. That you have obtained control over the ocean, which is all the world outside and inside. Usually euphoria and positive feelings comes with the results, and once you have achieved this sense, you soul will be eager to meditate more and more.
And the truth is…
Limitations exist only in your heads.
Life is not moving forward, but it is moving back to the future. You do not learn new things – you remember what you are. You are the beings of light, and you only see 3 percent of the light. The other 97 percent is what you are not aware of, but it is a part of you, which is the whole universe.
Learn to remember your self and what you were in the future, follow the visions that come with these exercises, and you will notice how the light works through your neural networks.
When you learn a new skill, the light from the Pineal Gland, which stores your consciousness, travels through the dark paths of neural network, and once you bring enough light to the skill you want to master, you simply remember it. You can break the limitations of you body by not believing in certain things.
Belief and knowing is futile, but together they make Faith. Faith in yourself and the universe will help to achieve your full potential with less friction and pain. Although the truth is, that we all suffer in time, it is a method of learning through friction, you can also learn to ease the process.
I hope you will have great years ahead of you on your path to understanding more than it meets the eye. Seek and it will be shown – ask and it will be given.
